| BHAINSRORGARH FORT | |||

| Bhainsrorgarh Fort, Bhainsrorgarh, Nr. Kota | |||
Situated south-west of Kota, this impressive, rambling 18th century fort is surrounded by its own village and sits high on a promontory jutting out into the River Chambal. The river is dammed downstream so is always full and looks truly beautiful all year round. The fort sits on the cliff edge and the views across the river and plains are endless. Bhainsrorgarh is very much a family concern and, with various members acting as your host, it is a homely place to stay. Keen on restoration, the family is slowly pulling their much loved ancestral home back from near ruin and it is a fantastic labour of love and commitment.
The food is simple but delicious Rajasthani home cooking and meals are either taken in the dining room or on the spectacular rooftop terrace. The traditional bedrooms are spotless and charming with large bathrooms with modern fittings. The pretty gardens, replete with bougainvillea are the perfect resting spot and the calm river is beautiful to explore by boat at dawn and dusk. The walking, riding and picnicking is second to none and exploring the surrounding village is like being in a time warp. Great care has been given to all aspects of the property which offers a welcoming ‘home’ in southern Rajasthan – an area yet to be really discovered and remaining unexploited and rural. With only 5 rooms, it is highly personal and has yet to get that ‘hotel’ atmosphere that so many other properties have. |

Bhainsrorgarh Fort-Palace believes in responsible tourism and is committed to playing a role in the issues that are related to the environment & the upliftment of the local society by contributing to social welfare, in the fields of education, health care & employment. Though being a relative newcomer to the hotel world, they have already started to practice the following successfully:
They grow their own vegetables which are organic and the grains used are also organic. They also encourage the local people to grow organic grains.
They are taking initiatives in planting trees and are committed to controlling de - forestation.
They have 100% local staff from the village and smaller villages around Bhainsrorgarh, whom they train in house as well as by sending them on training to other established hotels owned by friends & relatives of the owning family.
The linen used is pure cotton with the cosmetics & toiletries offered in the bathroom are handmade from natural eco-friendly extracts.
There is minimal use of plastic in the hotel.
They practice the use of electric appliances with minimum consumption of electricity.
It is their constant effort to discourage the local residents / fishing community from commercial fishing during the breeding season of the fish in the Chambal River. They counsel the villagers in employment opportunities and also offer employment in the hotel. The hotel contributes towards educating orphan students / families without earning male members. In cases where the male member who is the sole bread earner of the family has died, the hotel will strive to give employment to the widows. Along with various charitable donations, the family own a few temples around Bhainsrorgarh Fort which are maintained and restored by them. |
