DEOGARH MAHAL

Deogarh Mahal, Deogarh

This much loved, bustling, family run hotel is a large, rambling fort/palace which has grown from ruin, over the years. Over 300 years old, it has been beautifully restored by the innovative Deogarh family.

A swimming pool, endless comfortable balconies and terraces for dining or relaxing on, and the pretty, traditional bedrooms are the result of the family’s boundless energy and immense love and care. Spread randomly around the palace, they vary in shape and size and have a Rajasthani theme, whilst the bathrooms are equally fun and quirky. The surrounding town is one of the friendliest and cleanest to explore, and the countryside boasts wonderful picnic spots and derelict hilltop forts.

A local train ride through the hills is an excellent and memorable way to explore the countryside, or a sunset trip through the villages, in one of the family’s many and impressive vintage cars, is equally inspiring. Deogarh is also renowned for its exquisite and famous paintings. There is usually a family member around to chat to in the evenings, who will enlighten you to the history of the place – you may even be staying in your host’s childhood bedroom! It offers delicious multi-cuisine menus and excellent Rajasthani home cooking.

With its ideal position in the heart of the Aravalli Hills, it really is a must for anyone travelling through this area. .

Equally, the Jashwant Charitable trust has worked for over 16 years on education and health and cleanliness of the villages.

As a result, teachers from the UK have been visiting Deogarh villages for the past 4 months and have been greatly helping students and teachers in both learning and teaching.
