Nepal

One of the most compellingly beautiful and diverse mountain countries in the world

Barahi Jungle Lodge, Chitwan National Park

Barahi Jungle Lodge is a luxurious wildlife resort located in the heart of Chitwan National Park, Nepal. The lodge is beautifully situated on the banks of the Rapti River, surrounded by 12 acres of lush forests and sylvan fields. The lodge's unique style and location, easily accessible from Kathmandu make it the most wonderful destination for nature and wildlife lovers, and those seeking an escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.

The lodge's design and architecture are inspired by traditional Tharu village houses, which are known for their intricate woodwork and thatched roofs. The lodge's exteriors feature natural materials such as wood and stone, blending seamlessly with the surrounding environment. The lodge's interiors are equally impressive, featuring a fusion of traditional Nepalese and contemporary design elements. The decor is characterized by earthy tones, natural textures, and local artwork, creating a warm and inviting ambiance.

The lodge features 34 fabulous thatched, Tharu ‘huts’ which want for nothing and each has its own private balcony or veranda offering stunning views of the jungle and the river. The rustic rooms are spacious and excellently furnished, with huge beds, all modern amenities, and traditional Nepalese touches such as hand-woven textiles and wooden carvings. The lodge's public areas are equally lovely and inviting, featuring an open-air restaurant, a bar, a lounge, and a library. The restaurant serves a variety of Nepalese and international cuisine, using fresh and organic ingredients sourced from local farms. The bar offers a wide selection of wines, spirits, and cocktails, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring the jungle. The lounge and library are great places to relax and enjoy a book or a game of chess, if not out relaxing by the pretty, meandering pool or pampering yourself in the spa.

One of the lodge's main attractions is its proximity to Chitwan National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the best wildlife sanctuaries in Asia. The park is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including tigers, rhinos, elephants, and sloth bears, as well as over 500 species of birds. The lodge offers a range of jungle activities, including elephant safaris, jeep safaris, bird watching, canoeing, and nature walks, all led by experienced and affable guides in state of the art jeeps.

Barahi Jungle Lodge is a perfect blend of luxury and nature. The lodge's traditional Tharu-inspired architecture, tasteful interiors, and stunning natural surroundings make it a ‘must stay’ for anyone visiting Chitwan.
