Raas, Jodhpur

This glorious little hotel lies at the foot of the mighty Meherangarh Fort, in the heart of Jodhpur 's Walled City .  It is the only luxury hotel to be based in the old town and the views of the fort looming above, are quite spectacular.  The hotel comprises four beautiful old, restored, red sandstone buildings juxtaposed with slick, modern structures.

The combination of the old and the new works extraordinarily well. It is young at heart and different and has a pretty central swimming pool, an enchanting spa, an atmospheric dining room a cool café, and al fresco terraces. Strolling away from the excitement, hustle and bustle of the old town and walking under Raas' imposing gateway, is like entering a blissfully peaceful, hidden oasis. Almost all the rooms and suites have fort views, some have balconies and some have terraces.   They are highly sophisticated in their amenities and the décor is chic, contemporary and understated. The bathrooms are state of the art and the subtle use of colour, combined with stunning design and craftsmanship throughout the property, are truly outstanding.

In its entirety the property remains today the best preserved, largest and most complete urban noble residence in Rajasthan and has been lovingly and painstakingly brought back to life and up to date by the inspired owners. This exquisite, intimate, hotel is Jodhpur 's first boutique hotel and has changed the face of tourism in this historic, edge of desert city.

Eco / environmental / responsible tourism policy

All hot water in the hotel is generated by solar power. All water is treated by their Sewage Treatment Plant and used for landscaping. The stone jaali (screen) acts as a skin for the building and absorbs and retains the sun's heat, thus considerably reducing the need for heating in winter and air-conditioning in summer.
