This delightful, tiny fort sits on the edge of a small lake (seasonal) and is blissfully peaceful. It surrounds an inner courtyard which has a cosy fire to sit around during winter.

The large terrace and rooftop ramparts look directly over the lake / fields and the surrounding rocky landscape - perfect places for long, lazy sundowners. The four circular, corner turrets house bathrooms, bedrooms or sitting areas. The whole place is light and airy; the rooms are spacious and colourfully decorated with a mixture of traditional and modern Rajput furniture and all have private balconies. There is a gorgeous, lakeside ‘rock’ swimming pool and Jacuzzi, at one end of the pretty garden where dinner is served on warm nights.

It is fully staffed and your host, should he be in residence, is a charming ex-army Colonel and member of the Deogarh family. He’s an amusing yet discreet man and will make your stay fun but will not swamp you. Close to the ruins of the deserted village of Manpura, there are wonderful places to explore and excellent rural walking and birdwatching to be done. Whilst staying here one may use all the facilities at Deogarh Mahal, just 5kms away.

It makes an ideal party venue or place to hire in its entirety if you’re a family or group of friends. A small, exclusive place, full of Rajput charm, romance and character.

ACCESS: is by air to Udaipur from Delhi, Jaipur, Jodhpur or Bombay, followed by a 3 hour road journey. Alternatively, Deogarh is also easily accessible by road from Udaipur, Jodhpur, Nimaj, Narlai, Rohet, Luni and Bhenswara; or by a longer road journey from Jaipur, Roopangarh and Ajmer.
